Oh be....   Truthful, Faithful, Joyful

this is God's desire for you

Truthful

It is our belief that every Christian should passionately seek to be truthful (in knowing, believing, and speaking).  And we believe that this comes by means of the Word of God.  Historically this Biblical truthfulness or right thinking has been called orthodoxy. Thus, we believe in finding and holding the best Biblical thought possible, for the purpose of basing our Christian lives on what is actually true.

Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.

John 17:17

As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ.

         Ephesians 4:14-15

Faithful

In addition to an emphasis on being truthful, we place emphasis on being faithful (on living a life of obedience). Historically this Biblical faithfulness or right living has been called orthopraxy. This means that there is a correct way to live the Christian life, as well as an incorrect way. And while none of us have arrived, it is our goal to help one another on the correct path to Christ-likeness.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and does them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock."

            Matthew 7:24

His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.'

Matthew 25:23

Joyful

Glorifying God is ultimately what life is all about.  And the more we find our Joy in God, the more we glorify Him.  Only God offers us true joy.  In fact, one reason Jesus came into the world was that our joy might be made full.  Being Joyful is more of an attitude than a feeling.  It is an attitude grounded in the goodness of God and His sovereign rule for His glory and for our good.  With Jesus as our example, we lose our lives with joy, so that we might find true life.

The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

Matthew 13:44

...fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:2
